We have seen reports over the last few weeks regarding TikTok and how the app has been caught in the act of stealing data from its users on iOS. This came to light after the recent update to iOS 14 which now shows users if any app is copying clipboard data which revealed that TikTok is constantly stealing the same. On the other hand, we have known that TikTok has been banned in India along with 58 other Chinese apps meaning that the app will not run right now in the country. It is worth noting that India is the biggest market for TikTok after its home country of China so it is a huge blow.

Protests are going on in the US regarding TikTok and calls for its ban have also started to gather steam. In the middle of all this, we are getting new reports about TikTok and it becoming a target of anonymous hackers. Yes, the reports say that TikTok is being hacked right now and users’ details on the platform is not safe. The latest hacking attack on TikTok is being done by the Anonymous group that’s been in news for quite some time.

However, it is difficult to know where this anonymous group is from since they do not have any leader and any centralized method. The Anonymous group’s Twitter account said in a tweet that “Delete TikTok now,” and added that “if you know someone that is using it, explain to them that it is essentially malware operated by the Chinese government running a massive spying operation.”

Now, we know that India banning TikTok due to privacy reasons might be a different matter to Anonymous’s comments on the app but it should be understood that the app is horrible for user privacy and security and that it should be avoided as much as possible.
