We know that most of our data that we have already uploaded on the internet and also the more data we upload on the internet, everything has the potential to be misused. So it is said that only share data that you want to be seen by others and keep private the things that need to remain private. However, we have seen people have been uploading all sort of data such as their age, their birthday as well as other things that can be used for doing things that are not legal.
One such incident has now come to our notice and we are going to share the same with you so that you can stay aware of it. This incident is regarding Facebook and involves hacking of an account on the platform which was being operated by a 24-year-old in the US. One fine day, the account owner named Stevens found that his Facebook account was hacked somehow and that his profile picture and cover photo were replaced by ISIS-themed symbols. Now, Facebook has a strict policy that such profiles can get banned so he says that it was a problem for him.
Stevens adds that “I work with small business clients to help their marketing in terms of social media and things like that,”. “Along with all the memories and photos I have, it was very disheartening to know that it could all be lost,” Stevens says he does not know how his credentials got compromised but adds that there were orders of $250 in minutes after the hack. He also adds that “I’m almost scarred from this whole process and I’m just very scared of it ever happening again,” It is worth noting that the same is happening all over the world and it is better to have security protocols in place to not let this happen to you.
